We've had really low turnout in the Senior TAG and Rotax classes for the last few races. Just wondering who may be planing on racing in either of these classes for the remainder of the year?

If you have a Rotax or TAG set-up and are not planning on racing is there a reason? Cost? Competiiveness? Class Structure (e.g. class weights: too high or too low for you)?

Would you be interested in going back to a combined TAG class - Rotax and all other TAGs running the same tyres and IKF weights?

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I just purchased a rotax senior engine and plan to run a few rotax masters class races, providing I can. I will have to discuss this with the race director in how they space out the classes, as I have a son who races in the micromax class, and my daughter races in the minimax class. If they put the rotax masters class up against either of those two classes, well, then I won't be able to participate.

I know Liam Letczch's dad Bill from Colorado is also planning on running in the masters rotax class.

Ha, that was a combination of being stupid, and having a seat 2 sizes to small!!

I'm seriously thinking of running the TAG class even with my Rotax. Last two seasons I ended up running on my own a lot in Rotax Masters and I'd rather have a couple of people to race against. I think the Odellos and maybe Erica's dad are going to be running TAG so that's two or three plus me in the class. Don't want to pull folks away from the Rotax series but if there are just two or three of us that are "potentials" for the Masters class there could be lots of lonely races.

If we run the tag class instead of rotax masters, then I take it we will run on MG tires correct?

we are probably going DD2 to prepare for SNats. But yes Aaron if you enter in Tag class then you would run reds

IF the majority of people to race are in TAG rather than rotax masters, then I will run TAG. I spoke to Bill letszch and he also will run TAG vs rotax masters if thats where we can race people.

Not settled yet, it appears another rotax driver is going to come out of retirement to run and he wants to run it as rotax masters (AJ Whistler). This would be 4 for rotax masters rob, anybody else you know that is going to race?

Brian and I will be back for TaG Masters when it cools down. I hate racing when it's over 110 just slightly more than I love racing in general. We'd like to get my dad out for TaG Masters as well but he's really reluctant to go out as he thinks he's too slow.

Great to see some interest to fire drivers up. The more the merrier.

If only the drivers that thought they were too slow actually came out to race. They would have one heck of a race because that happens to be about 75% of all kart owners. If they never try to race, they will never get the drive to get better and always feel they are not good enough. You don't know till you try, and won't get any better sitting on the sidelines watching.

That is my experience at least. Hope to see you guys in August.

Add another. looks like Bailey is out for at least 1 year. So im jumping into masters. You goes want to go Tag and run REDs so we can include Erica and Brian. Or do we want to run Rotax Master since the three of us will be on Rotaxes

Being too slow has never stopped me having fun racing! Maybe that confirms what my wife says about me.

Anyway, I think the important thing is that we don't split the group and have enough folks at every race.. With the Odellos being two or three karts, they kind of swing the vote (not to pressure Erica and Brian!). That's why I'm leaning towards TAG. For the Rotax crew, the question is whether running to Rotax rules and gaining Rotax status is important

Any ideas how to resolve this?

BTW - what's up with Bailey?

Trust me guys, my Dad has a very strong support system and I know if we can get him out in a race once then it will no longer be an issue. It's just making that initial leap. We're working on it!

Regarding TaG vs. Rotax, Brian and I don't have a choice as we both have Leopards. We will race against you all just as hard whether you're running Mojos or MGs.

And yeah, what happened to Bailey?

My point - poorly made in my previous post - was that there are potentially 5 Rotax karts and 2 or 3 leopard TaGs. As the Odellos "travel in a pack" they form a large percentage of the potential racers. If we want the class to be a "championship" class or even just to have fun races, then we need about 6 karts. If we all go TAG, the chances of having a good turn out is much higher than if we split into TAG and Rotax classes. Hence my leaning toward running TAG.

Bailey blew out his knew in football. We thought after surgery we would be good to go shortly there after. But the knee was worse than everyone thought requiring two more surgeries and a transplant. Doc actually says no football or karts for two years after the 2nd surgery. So we are discussing as a family now on what to do. We may hold off until after SNats to finish the surgeries.

I talked with AJ Whistler and he says he is going to run as Rotax Masters as he wants the points. I'm leaning that way also as I travel quite a bit with Diego to race in the rotax series and I would like to race elsewhere also in the masters class.

Wow. Sorry to hear about Bailey's knee. My daughter blew her ACL and Meniscus and it only took one op but a year later it's still not 100% so I have some idea of what he's going through.

Great news! My dad has stated, in front of witnesses, that he will race his TaG in the winter series!
