The club is in need of a tech inspector. Our current tech inspector has gone MIA. Does anyone know of a qualified person who is either new to the club or a member in good standing that could fill this position?
Stacey DePalma will not be running registration next season. We will need someone to step into this position now. There will be a transition where Stacey will train the new person over the next couple of races. Please let the board know if you can perform the important task of registration.

I have to notify the club that our next race on May 12th may not happen. We cannot put on a race without a tech inspector and help in registration. The board has voted to implement mandatory volunteer hours. This club is a nonprofit volunteer run organization. Many have been enjoying the time and efforts of other so they can enjoy local racing at a club level. Again, we have the same members volunteering their time and other s just show up to race and never help out. This has come to a head and unfortunately our volunteers once again are getting burnt out. IF YOU DO NOT STEP UP TO HELP, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RACE.

Along with the positions previously mentioned there will be an election coming up in August for several positions on the board. We will announce the exact dates well in advance.
The economy has definitely taken its toll on our sport. Practice numbers are good but, people are not spending the money to race. The board will be looking at only putting on one race per month instead of two. We are the only club on the West coast that runs two races per month. This could possibly increase the turnout on race day.

I have also heard of many complaints of too many classes being run on race day. The transition to Rotax, Minimax, and Comer 80 has split up classes that were running 10-12 or 15 karts down to 3 and 4 karts per class. This transition has deterred some racers from moving into another class when the engine package they have has been running for years. It boils down to racers not wanting to spend thousands of dollars to purchase a new motor package. I am not sure what the right solution to this is but, we will monitor this closely along with our race numbers to help shape the club. If we were a privately owned track the owner could outline what classes would run and we would have full classes running. It has been a club rule that we will not turn anyone away on race day. We will find somewhere to place them.

Mrs. Salthouse has volunteered to help with registration at the next race if that will help. If Stacey could PM me with the details?

I'm trying to sell this as an early Mother's Day present for her but I'm not sure it's working........!

A thought.

Is it possible to create a section of the forum with a "to do" list so that club members can sign up to do the things the club needs? Obviously, it needs to be easy to use so we don't need someone to run it! I'm thinking it would be something like:

Task: Paint curbs between turn 3 and 5.

Must be completed by: Aug 8th.

Work hours: 5.

Contact: Fred Board Member

Assigned to: (this is where the club member can sign up)

Being time and distance challenged (like everyone else), it would be great if I could sign up for a task ahead of time, plan when I would get it done but also have options if something comes up and I have to change plans.

Bill,

My brother Frank Hendricks is interested in the possibility of working in tech. He can be reached at 602-361-0053. I shared the general responsibilities with him, he lives in the north valley, loves racing and is mechanically inclined and has a good attention to detail. With some specific direction I believe that he could work very well in the tech area.

Call me if you have questions 602-300-7946 or if you want Frank to call either yourself or Mike regarding the position please provide a number where you can be reached. Email works for me as well hendrickskris7@gmail.com.

Kris,
thank you very much, we will reach out for him and see if he will be able to observe our tech director at our next race.
