I am looking at getting started in karts, mainly for my son who is almost 6. I also want to race myself but seems it would be cost prohibitive. What do I need to run at pkra. He has only done some kids electric carts with just gas but said he loved it and did alright. Trying to gauge cost and other competitor levels.

You can pick up a used kid kart for around 1500, my son started at age 5 back in december, picked it up really quickly, he is 6 now. I also thought it would be fun to try it myself, decided to go with a world formula, 4-stroke, it's cost is the lowest, we use pump gas not race gas, huge savings when race gas is 12 bucks a gallon, and they dont go through tires as they don't run high rpm. I paid 1500 for my world formula Tony kart.

I 2nd Aaron, I too am a dad with a son racing in Rotax Sr. and I too race with Aaron in the WF class. In fact my son races with us in the class also. Bernie (The god father of the class ) has his daughter racing with us too. I dub it the dads class. Fun and cheap to run.
