When I look at the pit spaces that are occupied, a lot of the pits in the front are empty? During practice do you have to have a pit space reserved to practice and in race days does that apply too? And anyone selling used tires, need good prices?

Poll: Change race format?

Members have suggested possible changes to our race format and would like your opinion.

Poll options are limited in length. The following would not fit in the descriptions of some options:

The second option would use the average finish positions in the heats to set the grid for the main.

The third option would use the 2nd heat finish positions to set the grid for the main.

Forum members can add options BUT they will only be available to forum members who haven't voted yet.

fine print:

Forum polls are open to any forum member and not restricted to club members.
Forum polls are not binding but useful for seeing interest in formally requesting changes to club rulls or procedures.

Pill draw instead of Qualifying?

Who would be interested in changing the format of race day to have more racing and more competetive races with passing?

In the past, we used to run the format with a draw for positions for the first heat race. Then they would record your finish.

The second heat, we would invert the starting grid that we started the first heat with.

If you started 1st in the 1st heat, you would start last in the second heat.

They then take the cumulative finishing order and start the main based on your finishes in the two heat races.

This format promotes passing, racing, racecraft, strategy, and fun. It teaches drivers how to judge, race, and react to changing conditions on the track. It gives sower drivers a better perspective of what the fast guys are doing, and gives them the chance to start at the front and see how it works.

It would add more racing to the race day, less of the follow the leader racing that we have now, and make our racers better.

It works great, as we have done it in the past, and I would like to see our club try to do this, even if we were to do it for 1/2 of the races in a season and qualify for the other half.

What are your thoughts? We could implement this immediately.

RLV pipe recall

Don't know if anyone has one of these or not, but ran onto this on the internet today, spoke with RLV who said they would be happy to talk to anybody that has a suspect pipe.

RLV pipe recall:

RLV-1, RLV-2, and RLV-3

RLV Is issuing a recall on all three pipes, they are subject to end cap failure. In 2010 RLV was mandated to full weld the end cap to the pipe which results in the end cap pulsing and fatiguing the material. New pipes are going to be made with end caps from a heavier guage material resolve the problem.

Following are the pipes being recalled

RLV-1 (P/N 7401) Purchased prior to February 20,2010

RLV-2 (P/N 7402) purchased prior to March 15, 2010

RLV-3 (P/N 7403) purchased prior to March 15, 2010
If your pipe was purchased prior to the above dates.
Please contact RLV (805-925-5461) for instructions on updating your pipe.
This offer expires June 18, 2010

wes

IKF Region 7 World Formulas

Anyone interested in restoring World Formula racing at IKF Region 7 races in 2011 ? I just began sprint kart racing in the fall of '09 with the intention of racing at IKF regional races. I'm hardcore 4 cycle by the way. The participation dropped off in the class in '09 and it was not included in the '10 series(s). I've heard many reasons for the drop off , travel expense , poor economy , racing politics ( I have no idea what that includes ), etc. I'm certainly interested in supporting the class. Travel wise , being from Az. , I would probably have the largest travel expense , don't care about politics , my" want" to race surpasses any negative influence from a sour economy ( how's this " hope and change " working out for you !!!). Anyone else feel the same way ? Lets get this thing rolling. I know there are sufficient numbers of WF's in the region.
_________________

AZ State Championship

Wow... Didn't realize what my registration screw up had started! I don't want to beat a dead horse, so here are my simple points.

1) If you look at my registration history thru out my racing at P1, it is clearly focused on the AZ State Championship and no other event. That is a very simple precedent that I have set. So, my intent has always been, currently is, and will be on the AZ State Championship. I was not even aware that another class existed. Sorry for my ignorance....

2)I was running late that day and clearly didn't pay attention to all the registration details....

3)For me personally, the racing is always better and more enjoyable when you have a closer points battle between the top 3 or 4 racers in a class. It makes you focus more, learn from your competition, create a strategy, and execute under pressure. You get better doing it that way, at least I do.
